Welcome!

The human body is an amazing and complex combination of inter-related parts and systems. In order to perform optimally, this mechanical marvel needs to properly coordinate its functions. However, as with any complicated system, when an important function of the body is thrown off, problems can develop.

Orofacial Myology, also called Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a program used to correct the proper function of the tongue and facial muscles used at rest and for swallowing.

MyoWorks Orofacial Myology Services, LLC works with children, teenagers - even adults - to retrain and correct dysfunctional swallowing habits, tongue rest positioning and posture habits, promote nasal breathing, and eliminate sucking and other orofacial habits. In many cases, orthodontic treatment often accompanies orofacial myofunctional therapy. If incorrect muscle patterning or swallowing has caused a malocclusion, myofunctional therapy may help prevent further damage.

In essence, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy teaches how to correctly breathe, chew and swallow, and establishes healthy orofacial muscle patterns and postures meant to last a lifetime!
